Composition is storytelling. The “rule of thirds” is the easiest place to start—divide your frame into nine equal parts and place your subject along one of those lines.
Leading lines, symmetry, and negative space all guide the viewer’s eyes through your image.
Once you know the rules, experiment with breaking them. Move your subject off-center, play with foreground elements, and see how each tweak changes the feeling of your photo.
